Dana and Matt Saly and Paul Engler of Woodland Hills enjoy some of Paso’s best.

–Three distinctive Paso Robles wineries (described as Paso Robles Prodigies) had selections of their wines showcased at an informal wine tasting event Friday evening, May 20 at The Green Jug in Woodland Hills. The Green Jug features a wine bar every Friday evening that highlights wines from select wineries, specific varietals or viticultural areas. This past Friday evening was a great way for locals in the Woodland Hills and surrounding areas to sample premium wines from three distinctive Paso Robles wineries: Epoch Estate Wines, Linne Calodo and Nicora Winery. Two wines were poured from each winery, showcasing a nice example of not only these specific wineries, but of Paso Robles wines in general. The line-up highlighted the following from each:

Nicora Buxom 2012
Nicora Sans Maison 2012
Epoch Estate Blend 2012
Epoch Estate White Blend 2014
Linne Calodo Slacker: The Professional 2012
Linne Calodo Slacker: Stereotype 2012

Green Jug tastings are held Fridays, 5 – 8 p.m. (last pour 7:30), at a very reasonable cost. There was a steady flow of wine lovers gathered around the pouring bar chatting about Paso wine and enjoying each others company. RSVP’s for these events are requested, but not necessary.

When informed of the tasting, Nick Elliot, proprietor and winemaker of Nicora commented: “I hope it was a hit last night and that our wines showed well.”

Indeed, it was a hit and all the Paso wines showed well! Pop up tastings like this are a great way to introduce out of the area wine lovers to the magic of Paso Robles wines!
