Jordan Cunningham

Candidate for State Assembly Jordan Cunningham has announced his endorsement from the California Correctional Peace Officers Association.

Cunningham advocates public safety in bid for State Assembly

–On Apr. 15, 2016 Templeton small business owner and candidate for State Assembly Jordan Cunningham announced his endorsement from the California Correctional Peace Officers Association (CCPOA). CCPOA represents more than 30,000 correctional peace officers who work inside California’s prisons and youth facilities, as well as the state’s parole agents who supervise inmates after their release.

California Correctional Peace Officers Association President Chuck Alexander said given his background as a prosecutor, Cunningham understands firsthand the importance of prioritizing public safety. “Sacramento needs more leaders like Jordan, who understand what’s at stake and has the expertise to provide commonsense solutions to the problems that threaten the safety of our community,” he said. “He’s undoubtedly the right fit for the job.”

A Central Coast native, Cunningham received his law degree from the University of California, Berkeley. After graduating, he worked in Washington, D.C. as a federal law clerk and as an attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice. Over the course of his legal career, he developed a passion for public safety and eventually returned home to serve as a Deputy District Attorney in the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney’s Office. As a Deputy DA, he prosecuted a wide range of crimes including fraud, assault, domestic violence, and environmental crimes.

Cunningham said providing adequate support for law enforcement officers is critical to keep streets and neighborhoods safe. “I am honored to receive the endorsement of the CCPOA and will continue to be a strong advocate for public safety as a member of the State Assembly,” he said.

Cunningham is the owner of the Cunningham Law Group and serves as the president of the Central Coast Taxpayers Association, an elected member of the Templeton School Board and coach for multiple local youth sports teams.

Jordan Cunningham is running for California State Assembly District 35, a district that encompasses San Luis Obispo County and a portion of Santa Barbara County. He will face at least one candidate, Dawn Ortiz-Legg, a Democrat, who has formally announced a campaign to replace Katcho Achadjian, who was re-elected in both 2012 and 2014.
