Bearcats beat Clovis North 24-7 

Bearcats football paso robles–The Paso Robles Bearcats beat Clovis North 24-7 Friday night at War Memorial Stadium. Their record improves to 5-0 for the season.

The defense made their best showing of the season. They held highly-touted quarterback Brent Bailey to 10-21 passing for only 63 yards. In the second half, Bailey rushed for only three yards.

Senior Richard Goldammer was named the KPRL Outstanding Player of the Game for the Bearcats. Goldammer had two sacks and recovered a fumble. On offense, he had two receptions, one for a critical first down.

But the victory was a team effort. Jonathon Jaimes Kicked a 45-yard field goal to open the scoring. Steve Schouten scrambled and passed for over 100 yards. For the second consecutive game, Schouten hit receiver Seth Matthysse for a long completion. This time Seth scored on the touchdown reception.

Christian Erickson caught a touchdown pass and ran the ball well for the Bearcats. Many players contributed to the victory.

The game was the first of four consecutive home games for the Bearcats. Next Friday night, they host Sierra Canyon of Chatsworth. The Bearcats and Trailblazers are each 5-0 for the season. The Blazers had a bye this week. They recently beat Taft 52-13. Before last night’s games, Sierra Canyon was ranked 64th in California; Paso Robles was 78th.

The two undefeated teams meet at 7 next Friday night at War Memorial Stadium.
