–For the 16th year in a row, the City of Paso Robles received the California Society of Municipal Finance Officers award for outstanding financial reporting for their Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for fiscal year 2015.

This award was earned due to the work of the Paso Robles Administrative Services Department staff, including Finance Manager Deanne Purcell, and Administrative Assistant II Catherine Piatti. Besides the hard work to create the report, Purcell spent many additional hours updating the layout, format, and reporting structures to give the report a modern and more readable appearance, according to the city.

The report is a set of U.S. governmental financial statements comprising the annual financial report for the city that complies with the accounting requirements set-forth by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board, or GASB. This year, the report required a new addition known as GASB 68 (financial reporting of pension liabilities). This one statement alone added 21 additional pages to the report.

The administrative services staff will next begin a complete overhaul of the budget book. It will be a ground-up design, such that the reader will be able to understand the purpose of each department.
