Updated Aug. 21, 7 a.m.:

Due to the spreading Chimney Fire, Cal Fire has issued an evacuation order for residents of Oak Shores community, Christmas Cove, and Bryson Hesperia community. The three communities are on the north side of Lake Nacimiento. They straddle the border between Monterey and San Luis Obispo counties.

Cal Fire is asking all residents to be ready:

“Create and maintain defensible space and harden your home against flying embers. Get set: Prepare your family and home ahead of time for the possibility of having to evacuate. Be Ready to go! Take the evacuation steps necessary to give your family and home the best chance of surviving a wildfire.

“When you evacuate be sure to take any medications, pets, family valuables etc. with you, close all windows including window coverings, and leave all doors closed and unlocked.
