The California Mid-State Fair and the Downtown Paso Robles Main Street Association presented their annual free pancake breakfast on Thursday morning for hundreds of locals to enjoy.

A crew of volunteers led by 89-year-old Lester Rougeot of Paso Robles served up more than 3,600 scrambled eggs, 20 cases of sausages and several thousand pancakes. The fair pays for the food. Rougeot and his son, Chester, coordinated the volunteer cooks. Lester has helped cook the fair breakfast since its inception 21 years ago.

Tickets to the annual breakfast were handed out for free from participating downtown merchants.

Organizers would like to thank their sponsors: The California Mid-State Fair Board of Directors, Paso Robles Main Street Association Board of Directors, Paso Robles 4-H, Chaparral 4-H, El Paso de Robles Grange #555, Estrella Grange, Cahoots Catering, Suburban Propane, Ranchita Canyon 4-H, Paso Robles Waste Disposal, Inc. & the Gomer Family, Steve Cichorsky Sound, Lester and Chester Rougeot, and the Downtown Paso Robles Main Street Association.
