Fresno man dies in head-on crash near Cholame
–A head-on collision on Highway 46, about 100 feet west of Cholame Creek resulted in the death of 25-year-old Fresno resident Ivan Maqueda Gutierrez, according to California Highway Patrol. 
Gutierrez was driving a 2006 Chevy Cobalt westbound on Highway 46 at approximately 7:10 p.m. on Thursday when he drove into the oncoming lane for unknown reasons, colliding head-on with a 1993 Volvo 240 Wagon driven by Austin Texas resident David Allen Eastwood and Palo Alto resident Hannah Marie Fury.
Eastwood sustained major injuries including a broken femur, ankle, knee and chest trauma. Fury sustained major injuries including a broken wrist and ankle, cuts to the face and chest pain. Both parties were transported to Sierra Vista Hospital.
Gutierrez sustained fatal trauma to the chest and skull.
It is unknown if drugs and or alcohol were involved, but the cause and circumstances surrounding this collision are still under investigation, according to CHP. No further information is available at this time.
