Hiker reported missing in Montana De Oro found safe

–Reports say a hiker believed to have been lost in Montana de Oro State Park was found miles away from the park Wednesday evening.

The hiker, 39-year-old Dan Ohde, was located at 6:49 p.m. in the 3400 block of Perfumo Canyon Road near the Irish Hills Natural Reserve in San Luis Obispo. Reports say Ohde was in good condition.

Lost hiker montana de oro

–An adult male hiker is believed to be lost or missing at Montana De Oro State Park.

Hiker Dan Ohde had been camping at Islay Creek Campground in Montana De Oro State Park with his parents. On July 19, 2016 at about 1O a.m. Ohde mentioned to his parents that he planned to hike the Oates Peak Trail. He was last seen in the Islay Creek campground walking towards the Oates Peak trail head. Dan Ohde has not returned to his campsite as expected.

Ohde is a white male adult; 39 years old, 5’8″, 175 pounds, with blonde hair. He was last seen wearing a red shirt, blue jeans, and carrying a black back pack.

An active search is currently underway at Montana De Oro State Park involving California State Park Rangers, SLO County Sheriffs, CHP, SLO Search and Rescue, SLO Sheriff’s Posse, and California State Park Mounted Assistance teams.

A recent photo of Dan Ohde is attached. If anyone has information regarding Ohde or his whereabouts they are asked to call California State Parks immediately at (951) 443-2969.
