A little help goes a long way

Dear editor,

No one in the Paso Robles community knows about the truth of the old saying, “A little help goes a long way,” like our local charities. They know better than anyone how to multiply and make the most of the smallest contributions to help those in need.

My local agency, AR & Co. PR & Marketing, relearned this lesson over the last year as part of our annual Charity Events Promotion Program (CEPP). Designed to assist one lucky North County charity each year in promoting and marketing a fundraiser event, at no cost to the charity, the CEPP is our way of giving back to the community that has supported our business for the last 13 years.

Last year’s CEPP went to Loaves & Fishes Paso Robles, and just like the parable of the five loaves and two fish that fed a multitude, our agency witnessed how our humble contribution of in-kind services could make a large impact for the greater good. It was incredibly rewarding and moving to be able to partner with such a deserving organization and offer our professional skills to the cause of helping our community.

This year, we were again faced with a tough decision to select another charitable organization from among the many which have submitted a CEPP proposal. Before we announce the award winner later this month, we would like to thank all organizations for their applications, and for their ongoing charitable efforts within the community. We truly wish we could help support all of them in their noble, yet often under-appreciated work.

As we can only choose one, we would like to remind and encourage other area businesses about the power and importance of in-kind donation programs. We know from experience that if you can give even a small amount of time or funds to local charities, it can go a long way to feed, house and improve the lives of many in our community. For our part, we wish all the CEPP applicants the best of luck and encourage all North County charitable organizations to apply for next year’s program.

Sincerely,

Angela Robinson-Platz
