Police, family talk down suicidal teen from bridge

Young man pulled to safety, brought to mental health services
–On Wednesday at approximately 5:20 p.m., the Paso Robles Police Department received multiple calls of a young man in distress sitting on the edge of the 13th Street bridge over the Salinas Riverbed. The teen was threatening to jump off the bridge before police and the victim’s family stepped in to save him, according to Paso Robles Police Lieutenant Ty Lewis.
Lewis said officers received several calls about the distraught person, and when they approached to help, the man asked for his family. Police contacted the man’s family members and tried to convince the young man not to jump for about an hour. They were eventually able to pull the young man to safety.
The young man was taken to San Luis Obispo County Mental Health Services.
