–On Friday, San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s deputies spotted a vehicle which had been reported stolen the previous day out of Arroyo Grande. When deputies attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the driver of the Volvo SUV sped away, according to the sheriff’s office.

A pursuit ensued on Willow Road that lasted approximately 30 seconds and reached a top speed of 95 miles an hour before the driver of the vehicle went off the road and landed in a field at the intersection of Willow Road and Guadalupe Road in rural Arroyo Grande.

The male suspect immediately took off on foot across the field before deputies were able to apprehend him. The suspect has been identified as 25-year-old Dalton Lee Cross of Santa Margarita. He was arrested and booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail for felony auto theft and attempting to evade a peace officer in a reckless manner.
