Paso Robles Joint Unified School District will be hosting teen pop star Meredith O’Connor this Friday, Jan. 8, at both district middle schools. She will be sharing her message of anti-bullying through music and personal experience during several student assemblies throughout the day.

O’Connor has spoken at schools in over 50 cities internationally and has sold out appearances in London, New York, Athens, Nashville, and Los Angeles. Her first song, “Celebrity,” went viral and she used that platform to discuss her story as a victim of bullying to her fans.

O’Connor has sold out shows all over the world but says that performing at schools has been one of the most meaningful parts of her work. “I love going into schools because I get the chance to make it really personal,” she said. “I make sure the students can meet and ask me questions, and that’s something that I can’t do at a concert or on TV.” O’Connor said that she is especially excited to visit the district regarding an issue that is so close to her heart.

Meredith’s assembly schedule for Friday is as follows:

  • Flamson Middle School – 9:25–10:10 a.m. (6th grade) 10:15–10:30 a.m. (meet students) 10:40–11:25 a.m. (7th/8th grades)
  • Lewis Middle School – 1:15–2 p.m. (6th grade) 2–2:10 (meet students) 2:10–2:55 (7th/8th grades)
