Telegraph Avenue is July’s ‘Good Read’ at the library
– Telegraph Avenue by Michael Chabon will be the topic of discussion on Friday, July 17, 7-8:30 p.m. in the Paso Robles City Library.
A synopsis of the book reads, “Archy Stallings and Nat Jaffe are co-owners of Brokeland Records, a used record store located in the borderlands of Berkeley and Oakland. Their wives, Gwen Shanks and Aviva Roth-Jaffe, are the Berkeley Birth Partners, midwives who have welcomed over a thousand into the community. When ex-NFL quarterback Gibson Goode announces plans to build a megastore nearby, Nat and Archy fear it means certain doom for their vulnerable enterprise. Aviva and Gwen also find themselves caught up in a battle for their professional existence, one that tests the limits of their friendship.”
The Paso Robles City Library is located at 1000 Spring St. and is open Monday – Friday 10 a.m. ‐ 8 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m. ‐ 5 p.m.
