Winery documentary to premiere at Park Cinemas

Heritage Steinbeck MOVIE TRAILER from Steinbeck Vineyards & Winery on Vimeo.

Movie offers a unique perspective on the family behind Steinbeck Vineyard

This Christmas Eve 2014 marks 130 years to the day the Ernst family, Howie Steinbeck’s maternal great grandparents, arrived as pioneers in the Paso Robles region. Their inspirational story is told in the documentary short, Heritage Steinbeck: Honoring Family, Cultivating Land, Touching Lives, showing for a limited and exclusive engagement at Park Cinemas in downtown Paso Robles during Pioneer Day & Harvest Festival Weekends. The documentary was initially showcased at the 2014 SLO International Film Festival last March.

The 32-minute movie by Paso Robles filmmaker Kathy Kelly covers the emotional journey of seven generations: coming to America to escape war-torn Europe in search of a better life; moving to California’s Central Coast and establishing a new community; as trail-blazing grape growers in the 1880s; as struggling barley and cattle farmers in the 1970s; as a successful winery and wine brand owners today.

Weaved throughout the storyline is testimony from 89-year old retired airman Sgt. Orazio Fazio. He retells events surrounding the B-26 bomber crash, in which he and three others survived, that occurred fifty-three years earlier on the Steinbeck property. One airman did not survive. The movie provides not just one family’s story, but also a window into Paso Robles’ remarkable history.

“I’m so proud that my family has had a hand in contributing to Paso Robles’ rich history and thankful that Park Cinemas will help us share our history with the public,” said Cindy Steinbeck. “Our family dedicates the documentary to the five airmen who crashed that fateful day, along with all who serve in defense of this country.”

Heritage Steinbeck: Honoring Family, Cultivating Land, Touching Lives will be showing only six times on Pioneer Day Weekend, Oct 10, 11 & 12 at 4:45 p.m. and Harvest Festival Weekend, Oct 17, 18 & 19 at 4:45 p.m. Tickets are $5. The Park Cinema is located in downtown Paso Robles at 1100 Pine Street, Paso Robles, CA 93446. To view the trailer, go to: www.vimeo.com/steinbeckwines/trailer.
