'Lone bandit holds up Yogurt Creations,' Paso Robles police report

Suspect remains at-large

–Paso Robles police shared the following post to their Facebook page Monday morning:

Last night around 8:15 p.m., a cowardly bandit entered Yogurt Creations. His face was covered, but not for pandemic precautions. His intentions were much more nefarious. He approached the lone cashier, displayed a handgun, and demanded all the money from the till. The shaken employee complied, but the suspect wanted more. “Give me your cellphone.” After handing over the goods, the suspect left, last seen headed south. The employee quickly locked himself in restroom, where he waited until it was safe. When the coast was clear, the cashier called 9-1-1.

We arrived on scene and called our friends at the Atascadero Police Department, who sent their finest. APD K9 “Luke” arrived on scene and started tracking from the store. On the hunt, Luke headed south. We followed the victim’s cell phone to River Rd and Riverbank where it lay in the street. Luke also tracked to this location; good boy.

At this time, our suspect is still outstanding. Hopefully, not for long. Evidence is being processed for DNA, and with any luck, someone will come forward. The suspect is described as white male adult, about 5’07” – 5’08” tall, weighing about 200 pounds, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, dark pants, dark-colored Vans with white trim. The suspect was seen carrying a black backpack and wore a black mask.

Many times, we read about such incidents in the paper. They never tell the full story. The sleepless nights for the victim. Crippling anxiety. Loss of work due to emotional trauma. This trauma can last for years. When our suspect is located, inevitably, someone will say, he just took a wrong turn, he’s a good boy. But we must always remain focused on our victim and the relentless pursuit of our suspect.

Happy Easter.
