Remembering the historic Paso Robles Foster’s Freeze
The historic Foster’s Freeze at 2524 Spring Street in Paso Robles closed earlier this year. It had has been in business in Paso Robles since 1952. They served made to order hamburgers, chicken and a wide variety of other entrees along with their famous soft-serve milkshakes and ice cream.
The interior space is now a cleaned-out shell. The property is listed for sale at $495,000. It has 1,232 square-feet of space on a half-acre at the north end of town.
Robyn (Taylor) Naylor sent in old newspaper clippings from the Paso Robles Journal dated May 22, 1952. Naylor’s parents were Hobart and Ruth Taylor who opened the Foster’s Freeze.

Taylor was raised in Templeton and Mrs. Taylor lived here during the last war when she did secretarial work at Camp Roberts. After operating a successful business in Southern California for the past six years they sold out there recently to come to Paso Robles to establish their home and new business.
