Fatal accident reported on Cuesta Grade Sunday
Young driver reportedly lost control of vehicle, traveled into oncoming traffic
– On Sunday, at approximately 9:43 a.m., 18-year-old Justin Rodrigues of Lemoore Calif. was driving a 2003 Nissan with 19-year-old Kenneth Rocca of Hanford, Calif., as a passenger, southbound down the Cuesta Grade on Highway 101.
Rodrigues reportedly lost control of his vehicle and traveled into oncoming traffic on Northbound 101, where 54-year-old Sandra Gastelum of Santa Maria was traveling in a 2019 Ford and struck his vehicle, according to California Highway Patrol.
As a result of the collision, Rodrigues sustained fatal injuries. His passenger, Rocca, as well as Gastelum, both sustained major injuries.
