Crews respond to house fire believed to be intentionally set by occupant
Individual was detained by authorities, according to sheriff’s office
– Crews responded to a house fire in San Miguel that was believed to have been intentionally set on Monday afternoon. The occupant of the home is believed to have set the fire as a suicide attempt, according to San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Tony Cipolla.
The fire started at about 11:40 a.m. on K Street between 11th and 12th streets.
“We responded to a suicidal subject on K Street in San Miguel,” Cipolla said. “He had set his house on fire. We were able to detain the subject. Cal Fire was in the process of putting out the fire.”
