    Obituary of John Erwin Molette

    John Erwin Molette

    John Erwin Molette.

John Erwin Molette – Santa Margarita

    – It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our father. He battled cancer for almost two years and his body simply could not fight it anymore. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rosemary Molette, and his father, Frank Molette, earlier this same year. We are certain that the three of them have met again in heaven.

John had a decorated career in law enforcement until he became an electrician and worked for PG&E. He met many people along the way and fostered many friendships. He leaves PG&E after 38 years of employment.

Those who knew him will know he was an amazing, charismatic and kind person who was devoutly dedicated to his children. John leaves behind his three children; Evan Molette, Brianne McKinley, and Jennifer Molette. He also has a step-daughter; Katie White-Tackett. He was blessed with 6 grandchildren as well: Zoey, Ember, Charles, Jules, Briar and Avery. John had no spouse at the time of his passing however he was married three different times in his life.

Below each of his children have contributed a special note:

(From Jennifer) As one of his daughters, I can say my father was everything to me as he was ALWAYS in my corner, willing to listen. He taught me to be independent and confident which has ensured my survival throughout life’s transitions. Most importantly he taught me to care about others and their life experiences. It is because of my father that I have been able to make it in this world, whether it be living overseas, or becoming a sole parent to two children and ensuring that I give to my children what my Dad gave to me…..everything love can provide.

(From Brianne) My Dad showed me that you have to be spontaneous with life but resilient at heart. “Work hard play hard” has been a motto I personally live by that was exampled by my Dad. Growing up, I saw my Dad work hard at his “job” but then come home to his kids to “play” by going on bike rides, chores around home, camping, beaching or going to the lake. His affinity with nature and the outdoors has fostered a deep need for it in myself. My Dad had challenges with his personal relationships but he always showed unconditional love for us (kids) and he showed how devoted his heart was to us even though he was navigating heartbreak of his own. The heart would heal, he would tell me, and after personally experiencing this in my lifetime, I get it! I will always remember his one-liners, punch lines, and jokes to make you smile. His favorite that he would often tell me is “The Apple doesn’t fall too far from the Tree.” Thanks Dad for everything!

(From Evan) My Dad was an inspiration. I looked up to him for his work ethic, his family values, his confidence in himself, and his analytical mind. Dad and I connected through trucks. My Dad had a Chevy Blazer that he drove when we were kids. I loved that truck and I loved working on it with him when I was old enough to turn a wrench. He taught me how to change the oil, rotate the tires and many other maintenance things that I could do on my own. This led me to my own career as an auto mechanic. I have so many memories of days on the lake, camping trips and even just playing basketball or baseball at home in the yard. I thank you Dad for all the wisdom you’ve shared with me.

Celebration of Life will be held on June 22, 2024 @4 p.m. at the Edgewater Inn, 280 Wadsworth Ave, Pismo Beach, CA 93449. Please keep in mind that this is a tri-Celebration, we will be honoring Rosemary Molette, Frank Molette, and John Molette.
