Firefighters contain large vegetation fire in southeast Paso Robles

Fire burns over 50 acres near Creston Road
Update posted July 9, 2024:
– The Paso Robles City Fire and Emergency Services Department has released a press release about the fire that occurred on Creston Road near the Meadowlark Farms neighborhood yesterday:
On Monday, July 8, at approximately 6 p.m., Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services along with Cal Fire/San Luis Obispo County Fire responded to a report of a vegetation fire in the 2900 block of Creston Road in Paso Robles.
Firefighters arrived within four minutes and found a one-acre vegetation fire burning in light grass and wind-driven. Firefighters were able to stop the forward progress of the fire at 52 acres with minor damage to cellular infrastructure and no damage to any structures.
Three fire engines, a battalion chief, a deputy fire chief, and a fire chief from Paso Robles responded. As part of the city’s mutual threat zone agreement, seven fire engines, two dozers, one water tender, three crews, three air tankers, one helicopter, one air attack, and two battalion chiefs responded from Cal Fire. Additional assistance was provided by both the Paso Robles Police Department and the San Luis County Sheriff’s Department.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Forward progress has been stopped, according to Cal Fire
– A vegetation fire is burning east of Paso Robles, according to multiple reports.
What has been dubbed as the Franklin Fire, located near the 3000 block of Creston Road in Paso Robles, has burned 40 acres as of 6:15, according to a social media post by Cal Fire. Forward progress has been stopped, according to Cal Fire.

Power outages have affected over 2,500 customers in the area, according to a PG&E outage map. The estimated restoration time is 2:30 a.m. on July 9. Several firefighting aircraft are overhead. The skies in the area were still smokey on Tuesday morning.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Updates will be posted when more information is received.
