– An excessive heat warning remains in effect for Paso Robles from 10 a.m. this morning until 8 p.m. Tuesday. Temperatures are expected to range from 98 to 108 degrees.
The affected areas include Cuyama Valley, San Luis Obispo County Interior Valleys, San Luis Obispo County Mountains, Santa Barbara County Interior Mountains, and Southern Salinas Valley.
There is a high risk for dangerous heat illness, especially for the very young, the very old, those without air conditioning, and those active outdoors. The excessive heat conditions are expected to peak on Tuesday.
Precautionary measures include drinking plenty of fluids, staying in an air-conditioned room, avoiding the sun, and checking on relatives and neighbors. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments for those working outdoors. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency; call 911.
