City of Paso Robles earns budget award
– The city of Paso Robles has been awarded the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for its fiscal year 2024-25 and 2025-26 budget document. This award represents the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting, according to a press release from the city.
The award highlights the city’s adherence to the highest principles of governmental budgeting. To qualify, the city had to meet nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation, including serving as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide, and communications device. The city was required to be rated “proficient” in all four categories and in fourteen mandatory criteria within those categories.
“This award is a testament to our ongoing efforts to improve our budgeting process and ensure that we are effectively communicating our financial strategies to the community,” said Ryan Cornell, the city’s Administrative Services Director who developed the budget and oversaw the production of the document.
The GFOA’s Budget Awards Program includes over 1,700 participants. The city of Paso Robles’ recognition places it among the top group of municipalities recognized for advancing budgeting quality and setting a high standard.
The GFOA advances excellence in government finance by providing best practices, professional development, resources, and practical research for more than 22,500 members and the communities they serve.
