She and her family moved to Steelton, Penn., where she spent her formative years. In 1962, she, her husband, and her daughter headed to California where she lived until her passing.
She was a faithful servant of God and a member of the Bethel Seventh Day Adventist Church in Pomona, Calif. where she served as a deaconess, church mother, and led the community services and food bank ministries. After moving to Atascadero, she joined the Second Baptist Church in Paso Robles, where she continued serving God’s people.
She enjoyed cooking, traveling, and researching family history. Family was the cornerstone of her life. She retired from the City of Los Angeles Police Department.
On Sunday, Aug. 11, 2024, at eighty-seven years of age, she transitioned to eternal life. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Vicki Anderson, and grandson, Joel Michael Anderson II.

Dedicated caregivers, nephew, Martin Grant, Sr., Atascadero; great-niece, Markesha Grant Tatum, San Mateo, Calif.; a special niece, Sonya Costen, Fort Washington, Maryland and a host of relatives and friends.
