Arté de Tiza returns to Paso Robles Downtown Park
Students from kindergarten through high school are invited to participate in the free event
– On Saturday, Sept. 21, the sidewalks of Paso Robles Downtown Park will be filled with local students creating chalk art as part of Arté de Tiza. The event, produced by the Paso Robles Art Association (PRAA), Paso Robles Main Street Association, and the Optimists Club, aims to raise funds to support and encourage art experiences for children through established art programs.
Students from kindergarten through high school are invited to participate in the free event. Cash prizes will be awarded in four categories: kindergarten through third grade, fourth through sixth grade, middle school, and high school. The prizes range from $20 to $100 for first, second, and third places. Chalk, knee pads, and ice water will be provided to all participants.
“My favorite part of the day is seeing the excited children claiming their prizes,” said Kristene Thompson, president and events director of PRAA.
Linda Garen Smith, PRAA gallery director, expressed appreciation for the volunteers who help make the event possible. “We are grateful for the dedicated volunteer members from PRAA and the Optimists Club who make this happen,” she said. “It’s great to be able to stage this event again.”
Throughout the morning, visitors to the city can watch the young artists work and participate in the Taste of Downtown event, sponsored by the Downtown Association. Spectators can sample offerings from downtown restaurants, breweries, and wineries. For tickets, contact the Downtown Association at (805) 238-4103.
