Firefighters contain vegetation fire in Salinas Riverbed
Fire contained at one-third of an acre
– Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services responded to a vegetation fire in the riverbed near Highway 101 and Highway 46 East on Oct. 7 at approximately 5:11 p.m.
Upon arrival, firefighters saw fire and smoke coming from just off the northbound lanes of Highway 101. Once they safely accessed the area, they contained the fire to one-third of an acre.
Three fire engines and one battalion chief from Paso Robles were dispatched. Under the city’s automatic aid agreements, Cal Fire/SLO County provided one fire engine, one dozer, one hand crew, and one battalion chief. Fire engines from Atascadero and Templeton also responded, bringing the total number of firefighters to 27. The California Highway Patrol assisted with traffic control.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
