    Ronald Harvey York
    Sept. 6, 1950 – July 9, 2024
    Atascadero, California

    – Ronald Harvey York, 73, of Atascadero, California passed away on July 9, 2024.

Ron was born in Modesto, California and when he was 8 years old the family moved to San Luis Obispo. He graduated from San Luis High School in 1968.

Most of Ron’s work years were as a plumber, the position he held when he started working for the Department of Corrections in Tehachapi and in 1991 transferred to CMC retiring from there as a Supervisor of Building Trades.

He loved his family, life, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, barbecues, family reunions, horseback riding and his 1970 Chevrolet truck, “old brown”. In his teens he bought a dirt bike and competed in enduro. Later his competitive spirit continued when he started distance horseback riding, doing competitive trail. Gathering with his NATRC friends at rides brought him much joy.

He is survived by his wife, Debra York, his daughters Brittany York Myers and Alexandra York, granddaughters Sophia Myers and Marilyn Gonzales, brothers Roger York (Mary) and Lloyd Douglas York, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents George Harvey York and Virginia York, brother Gary York, and daughter Jennifer York.

A celebration of life for Ron will be held Saturday, November 9 at Noon at the Paso Robles Elks Lodge. To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

Published by San Luis Obispo County Tribune from Oct. 7 to Oct. 10, 2024.
