Hunting checkpoint in Carrizo Plains to monitor quail complianceWildlife officers will be monitoring the area due to increased quail populations in the Carrizo Plains

    – The California Department of Fish and Wildlife will conduct a wildlife checkpoint in the Carrizo Plains on Oct. 19. The checkpoint will be located at Soda Lake Road and Selby Road in eastern San Luis Obispo County and will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Law Enforcement Division will carry out the checkpoint to check for compliance with state hunting regulations as the general quail season opens on Oct. 19. Wildlife officers will be monitoring the area due to increased quail populations in the Carrizo Plains, attributed to recent years of average to above-average rainfall.
