Released: Full text of city manager’s complaint against Chris Bausch
– On Oct. 4, The Paso Robles Daily News first broke the story, “Paso Robles city manager files complaint against city councilman.” Today we release the full text of the complaint.
Paso Robles City Manager Ty Lewis filed a formal complaint in August against the City of Paso Robles. It accuses Councilman Chris Bausch of numerous allegations. Lewis is seeking $2,275,000 in compensation. Bausch has declined to comment on the story.
Paso Robles Mayor John Hamon addressed the controversy in a letter published on Thursday. Hamon said there is a nefarious “conspiracy” by some locals to remove Lewis from his position.
The city council has hired an independent attorney to investigate the complaint. They are expected to meet behind closed doors on Nov. 5 to discuss the issue.
The Paso Robles Daily News filed a public records request with the city and received the original complaint. Here it is published in full.
Paso Robles City Council candidate Linda George says she did not create fake social media accounts to discredit Lewis.
Reporter Karen Velie, the operator of Cal Coast News, largely dismisses the allegations in the document. She explains her version of events in an article posted here.
“As for Lewis’s claims that there are members of the public who do not support him and would like to see him replaced, in our republic citizens have a right to criticize public officials and to seek changes in leadership,” Velie says.
