Firestone Walker, Ernie Ball release limited-edition Electric Eagle IPA
Ernie Ball is a prominent, locally-based guitar and bass string manufacturer
– Firestone Walker Brewing Co. and San Luis Obispo-based guitar string manufacturer Ernie Ball have released a new collaborative beer called Electric Eagle, a limited-edition West Coast IPA available in four-packs of 16-ounce cans and on draft at select Central Coast locations.
Electric Eagle, developed by Firestone Walker’s brewing team with input from Ernie Ball, is brewed to highlight hop-forward flavors, combining Pacific Northwest and Southern Hemisphere hop varieties. The beer is available for a limited time at Firestone Walker locations in Paso Robles, Buellton, and Venice.
“We’re not just beer lovers at Firestone Walker—we’re also avid musicians and music fans,” said Firestone Walker Brewmaster Matt Brynildson. “It’s why we’re stoked to partner with our friends at Ernie Ball, located down the road in San Luis Obispo, to create this limited-release collaborative beer.”
Founded in 1962, Ernie Ball is a prominent guitar and bass string manufacturer based in San Luis Obispo known for its craftsmanship and dedication to quality. Musicians such as Paul McCartney, Keith Richards, and Eric Clapton have used Ernie Ball strings in their work. Brian Ball, CEO of Ernie Ball Music Man, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, emphasizing the shared commitment to craftsmanship between the two Central Coast companies.
“As fellow 805 natives, we take immense pride in our roots and the rich culture of craftsmanship that this region embodies,” Ball said. “This collaboration is not just about creating a great beer; it’s about celebrating the artistry and passion that both Ernie Ball and Firestone Walker bring to our respective crafts.”
Electric Eagle is crafted with a blend of traditional hop pellets, lupulin-rich Cryo hops for enhanced aroma, and Incognito hop extract for a balanced bitterness. The IPA includes hop varieties like Simcoe, Mosaic, Riwaka, and Nelson Sauvin. According to Sam Tierney, manager at Firestone Walker’s Propagator R&D brewhouse in Venice, the blend of Mosaic in the dry hop delivers a classic West Coast profile, with added tropical and white grape notes from Riwaka and Nelson hops.
