Templeton seeks applicants for committee roles
Committees meet three to five times per year
– The Templeton Community Services District is inviting residents to apply for positions on its internal standing committees. The district, which serves about 8,000 residents, provides water, sewer, fire and emergency services, solid waste, parks and recreation, as well as limited drainage and street lighting services.
The district’s committees meet three to five times per year, typically during business hours, to review projects, financial reports, and other informational items. These committees provide recommendations to the district’s board.
Members must be at least 16 years old, reside within the Templeton Community Services District (CSD) boundaries, comply with the district’s Conflict of Interest Code, and file a Statement of Economic Interest Form 700 under the Fair Political Practice Commission. Templeton CSD’s standing committees include:
Administration/Finance Committee: Focuses on financial management, including annual budgeting, major expenditures, and audits. Recommendations are made to the board as needed.
Water and Wastewater Utilities Committee: Oversees the district’s water and wastewater facilities, including maintenance and operations of the treatment plant, lift stations, wells, and distribution system. The committee makes recommendations to the board as necessary.
Fire and Emergency Management Committee: Addresses the fire department’s effectiveness, efficiency, response to incidents, property preservation, and community safety. It also formulates an emergency team, analyzes district capabilities and hazards, and develops plans for emergency response goals. Recommendations are provided to the board if required.
Parks, Recreation, and Refuse Committee: Oversees recreation policies, programs, and parks, as well as the district’s franchise agreement for solid waste and recycling services to ensure quality service for residents and businesses.
Measure “A” Oversight Committee: Formed after voters passed Measure A in 2019, which imposed a special tax to support Templeton Fire and Emergency Services staffing. The committee independently reviews and informs the public and board on parcel tax expenditures, ensuring funds align with voter intentions.
