    Election results for North County school board races 

    Nathan Williams Trustee Area 3 PRJUSD

    School board incumbent and board president Nathan Williams is leading in his district.

    – Unofficial election results from the San Luis Obispo County Elections Office show tight races across North County school districts, with several school board seats and bond measures hanging in the balance. The latest results from the county were posted at 12:20 a.m. this morning. The county had not clarified how many ballots are yet to be counted but shows “Precincts reported: 158 of 158 (100.00%)” with 82,548 votes cast in SLO County.

    Incumbents lead in Paso Robles school board races

    In the Paso Robles Joint Unified School District, preliminary results show competitive races across all trustee areas:

    • Trustee Area 3: Incumbent Nathan Williams holds a substantial lead with 64.12% of the vote (865 votes), while Hunter M. Breese has received 35.80% (483 votes)
    • Trustee Area 5: Incumbent Laurene D. McCoy is ahead with 56.44% (1,087 votes) to Tim Gearhart’s 43.35% (835 votes)
    • Trustee Area 6: In a closer contest, Leo Castillo leads with 52.52% (625 votes) over Adelita Hiteshew’s 47.06% (560 votes)
    • Trustee Area 7: Incumbent Kenney Enney is showing a strong lead with 57.58% (1,071 votes) compared to Tracy Dauterman’s 42.37% (788 votes)

    Incumbent Trustee Nathan Williams said this morning, “I am so very humbled by the strong showing of support at the polls that clearly reaches across political divides and reinforces the work and efforts I’ve made for the last four years. If the will of the community stands and I am elected again I will proudly continue to serve in the ways that I have that have earned me the respect and trust of so many,” he said.

    “I believe we can transcend the divides and create a new Paso that encompasses much of the old and brings it forward with a good deal of the new,” Williams said. “It’s worth striving for. Regardless, I’m proud of my time and grateful to have served in the many ways I have and intend to keep doing so.”

    In Trustee Area 6 two newcomers ran for the seat. Leo Castillo, who has a lead over Adelita Hiteshew, said this morning, “I’m incredibly humbled and grateful for the first wave of numbers coming in. I’m hopeful to see what the final numbers will be in the days to come. I appreciate the community and my supporters and look forward to the outcome but most importantly supporting our community youth.” Hiteshew could not be reached for comment.

    School board trustee announces bid for reelection

    Incumbent Trustee Kenney Enney, who is leading in his race, said this morning, “There are still ballots to be counted; but, I am happy with the early voting numbers and grateful for the support.” His opponent, Tracy Dauterman, could not be reached for comment by press time.

    School Board candidate and former Trustee Tim Gearhart conceded his district election this morning. “Thanks to all of my students over the years, and to the Paso Robles community for electing me to three terms (12 years) on the school board. It’s time to relax and travel a bit.”

    Atascadero school board

    The Atascadero Unified School District race for three open seats remains extremely close, with less than two percentage points separating the top three candidates:

    1. Joey Arnold: 21.89% (4,856 votes)
    2. Corinne Kuhnle: 21.01% (4,659 votes)
    3. Veronica “Roni” DeCoster: 20.00% (4,437 votes)
    4. Jodi M. Taylor: 19.63% (4,354 votes)
    5. Matt Pennon: 17.46% (3,873 votes)

    Templeton school board

    In the Templeton Unified School District, where three seats are available, the top three candidates are separated by less than one percentage point:

    1. Ted Dubost: 27.76% (1,675 votes)
    2. Cheryl Parks: 27.00% (1,629 votes)
    3. Matt Allison: 26.88% (1,622 votes)
    4. Jason Tesarz: 18.25% (1,101 votes)

    School bond measures

    Two North County school districts put bond measures before voters:

    • Atascadero Unified School District’s Measure B-24 is currently showing approval at 55.44%, just barely above the required 55% threshold for passage
    • Templeton Unified School District’s Measure D-24 appears to have fallen short with 54.75% approval, missing the required 55% threshold by less than half a percentage point

     

    All results are unofficial, with 100% of precincts reporting. Final results may change as remaining mail-in ballots are counted. The San Luis Obispo County Elections Office will continue to process and count mail-in ballots received within the statutory timeframe.
