Suspect caught in break-in at Megan’s Organic Market
– A Salinas man was arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary and vandalism at Megan’s Organic Market last week, according to a Facebook post from the San Luis Obispo Police Department.
Patrol officers responded to the market on Higuera Street around 11 p.m. on Oct. 30 after reports of a person hitting the store’s doors. When officers arrived, they found the glass doors shattered and saw a man climbing from a fenced area at the back of the building onto the roof.
The man, later identified as Anthony Best, 39, then jumped into the backyard of a nearby mobile home, where he was taken into custody after a brief struggle.
Best was booked into county jail on charges of felony attempted burglary, felony vandalism, and misdemeanor resisting arrest. He remains in custody with bail set at $150,000.
