Two classic Hollywood tales featured at By the Sea Productions

    – By the Sea Productions will showcase two “Old Hollywood” stories in staged readings during Thanksgiving weekend.

The first presentation, “An Interview with Gladys Walton,” is written by Janice Peters. It tells the story of Gladys Walton, a silent film actress who retired from her Hollywood career and led a colorful life. After her retirement, Walton moved to Morro Bay, where she built a lighthouse and windmill on her waterfront property. Peters portrays Walton, with John Geever playing the interviewer.

The second feature is a staged reading of the 1940 radio play “My Client Curley,” written by Norman Corwin. The story follows the brief but remarkable career of a dancing caterpillar, a tale later adapted into the 1944 Cary Grant film “Once Upon a Time.” Directed by Anita Schwaber, the reading features Rhonda Crowfoot as Curley’s owner and Rick Bruce as the agent who turns Curley into a star. A large cast, including Mary Alvarado, Chrys Barnes, Larry Barnes, Phil Epstein, John Geever, Topher Lyons, L.B. Kelty, and Russ Snow, will play multiple roles.
