Craft brewery announces final pour date
– Silva Brewing will close its tasting room on Dec. 7 after eight years of operation in Paso Robles.
Chuck Silva, co-founder, brewmaster and winemaker, announced the closure in a message to customers, describing it as a “momentous occasion” mixed with “great consternation.”
During its eight-year run, Silva Brewing produced nearly 600 batches of beer, released more than 50 different brews, created four varieties of seltzers and made 13 different wines.
“Silva is a legend among beer circles — in fact, he is THE legend,” wrote Andrew Pridgen for the SF Gate’s story about the closure.
The brewery’s products will remain available at local retail accounts through December and into January. Silva encouraged customers to visit the tasting room for “a last libation or three” before the final day of operation.
The announcement acknowledged contributions from employees, distributors, suppliers, and various business partners who supported the brewery’s operations since its opening:
A message from Chuck Silva
Our 8th Anniversary is just 5 weeks away! Clearly, this is a momentous occasion to celebrate with our community over many glasses of beer, but it has also come time for me to announce and with great consternation that Silva Brewing will be closing next month. December 7th the Silva Brewing tasting room will be open to the public for its final day of celebration (and commiseration).
After nearly 27 years of commercial brewing, I have a great sense of pride for all that we collectively have accomplished in the “World of Craft Beer” and I look forward to whatever the next chapter may be, even with the shifting tides of the craft beer world. Some of our accomplishments to reflect on at Silva Brewing in the past 8 years include brewing nearly 600 batches of beer while releasing over 50 different brews, producing multiple batches of 4 different seltzers, and vinting 13 different wines. It is always a joy for me to create new beverages to share especially when they are very much enjoyed and appreciated. That’s the main reason why I would often be in the tasting room enjoying our beverages along with you.
I’m so grateful that MJ and I had the opportunity to open our passion project, Silva Brewing in Paso Robles and I’m thankful for all the support we received over the past 9 years to make it all happen. Many thanks need to be expressed at this time…
First, a huge thank you, thank you, thank you to all our customers, club members, tasting room patron’s, online purchasers, restaurants, bars, and markets who purchased our products. Secondly, a huge thanks to all our employees that kept the dream alive for 8 years; brewers, cellarmen, tasting room staff, admin, and volunteers. Additionally, many thanks to our distributors and sales force that took a chance on us and spread the good word about our fine beer. There are many others that deserve thanks too, equipment and ingredient suppliers, merchandise makers, printers, delivery drivers, landlords, (tax, insurance, and finance) professionals, and contractors.
I hope we get the chance to see all of you at least one more time before we close the doors for good, so please take the time to come see us for a last libation or three over the next several weeks and/or join us on our final day December 7th.
After closing the tasting room, we’ll continue to sell our beer, wine and seltzer inventory to our local retail accounts throughout December and even into January so please continue to support them by purchasing Silva Brewing and AMOK Cellars fine beverages.
Sincerely, Chuck Silva
