The girls’ team traveled to Monache High School for the eighth annual RM Parks Ladies Tournament. Denisse DeLaCruz Lopez claimed first place, defeating the No. 9-ranked wrestler in the state from Pioneer Valley and the defending state champion from Nevada in the finals. This victory will likely elevate Denisse’s ranking to No. 9 or higher. The girls will next compete at the Lady Trojan at Foothill High School in Bakersfield this weekend.
The boys varsity team participated in the Robert Arballo Holiday Hammer in Madera, placing 21st out of 50 teams. The team gained valuable experience, wrestling against six of the top 25 teams in the state. Alan Melgar was the sole Bearcat to make the podium, earning seventh place.
