Paso Market Walk coffee shop blends a welcoming mission with quality brews

    – A popular Paso Robles coffee bar, Joebella Coffee, recently was rebranded to Common Grounds to reflect the business’s objective of providing a welcoming for all. It has been located in the Paso Market Walk since 2020, with a roastery and coffee bar in Atascadero.

“The name came about from my perspective and experiences in life and what I want to project out to the community keeping my coffee roots present,” says owner Christopher Trejo.

“No matter your beliefs, ideologies, or preconceptions, at the end of the day we are all humans trying to survive and live to the fullest we can. Whoever you are, wherever you come from, or whatever you believe, you will always find common ground with us.”

Popular drink items at Common Grounds are lattes, which include The Lavender Vanilla Honey and The Salted Bourbon Caramel, and the Kyoto Cold Brew, which can also be ordered as mocktails.

A majority of products, like the syrups, are made in-house; Trejo says that what “makes us unique and stand out is the way we pull our espresso [as] we pull ristretto espresso versus higher yield pulls most cafes practice.”

An emphasis is made on stocking from local businesses, such as baked goods from Back Porch Bakery.

“All our recipes, products, operations, and relationships are all the same. The staff still has full benefits, we still open every day of the year, even Christmas…We are the same folks who look forward to seeing you everyday,” Trejo said.

Common Grounds will begin an educational program in 2025 that will be open to the public. Different class topics will include milk steaming, coffee cupping, pour over, and more.

Common Grounds is located at 1825 Spring Street, Unit 8 in the Paso Market Walk. Open every day from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, call (805) 952 – 3400 or visit their website.
