Public invited to comment on Niblick Road project plans

Comment period runs from Dec. 12 to Jan. 10

    – The City of Paso Robles has prepared a mitigated negative declaration for the Niblick Road Complete and Sustainable Bike and Pedestrian Enhancements Project and plans to adopt it. This declaration, prepared in accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act, evaluates the environmental impacts of the project.

Public comments on the Draft Mitigated Negative Declaration are encouraged and will be considered during the review process. The comment period runs from Dec. 12 to Jan. 10. Comments may be emailed to planning@prcity.com or mailed to the Community Development Department at 1000 Spring Street, Paso Robles, CA 93446.

The project, funded by an Active Transportation Program (ATP) Cycle 6 Grant, involves replacing the westbound Class II bike lane and north sidewalk along Niblick Road, between Spring Street and Creston Road, with a 10-foot-wide raised multi-use path for bicycles and pedestrians. Additional features include raised path separators, ADA-compliant ramps, new sidewalk sections on the south side of the corridor, and updated bike lane striping. The roadway will remain a four-lane corridor after project completion.

The city determined an Environmental Impact Report is unnecessary, as mitigation measures outlined in the Mitigation Monitoring and Reporting Program will address potential environmental effects.

For additional information, contact Katie Banister at (805) 237-3970 or kbanister@prcity.com. Project details and the draft declaration are available online at www.prcity.com/CEQA.
