City inviting applications for Supplemental Sales Tax Oversight Committee
Applications accepted until Jan. 31
– The City of Paso Robles is now accepting applications for two at-large membership positions on the Supplemental Sales Tax Oversight Committee. Applications will be accepted until Jan. 31, 2025.
The committee’s purpose is to provide a forum for citizens to review and report on the use of revenues from Measure E-12, which was approved by voters in 2012 and extended as Measure I-24 in November, as well as Measure J-20, which was approved by voters in 2020. The committee’s role includes oversight and advisory responsibilities, with oversight being the higher priority.
As part of its oversight role, the committee reviews the accounting of funds generated and spent under each measure at each regular meeting. Members assess whether the revenues were used on community priorities as established by the Paso Robles City Council. The goal is for expenditures in priority areas to equal or exceed the revenues generated by the measures. The committee reports its findings to both the council and the public.
The committee meets quarterly on the third Wednesday of February, May, August, and November at 5:30 p.m. Meetings are held in the council chamber at 1000 Spring Street and typically last about two hours.
The term for each committee member is three years, beginning on April 1, 2025. The city is currently seeking to fill two at-large membership positions.
