City closes Pioneer Park playground due to safety concerns

The playground will remain closed while the city pursues quotes for a replacement

    – The City of Paso Robles has closed the playground at Pioneer Park effective immediately due to safety concerns. Certified playground inspectors identified hazards on the play structure that pose a risk to users. City officials determined the issues cannot be repaired, and the playground will remain closed while the City pursues quotes for a replacement.

“Safety is our top priority,” said Freda Berman, public works director. “We understand this is disappointing news for families who enjoy Pioneer Park, but we are committed to providing safe, high-quality play spaces for our community.”

While the Pioneer Park playground remains closed, residents can look forward to the opening of the new Royal Oaks Playground in January, which will feature modern, safe, and accessible play equipment for children of all ages.

For updates on the playground replacement and other city projects, residents are encouraged to visit www.prcity.com/recreation or follow the city on social media.

Merry Christmas. This playground structure is outdated and not safe. Paso Robles spends money on a lot of projects. All playgrounds should be safe and structurally sound. I’m sure we can all agree that all playgrounds in the city of Paso Robles should be up to code and safe, for all kids.
