Studios on the Park hosts free presentation by local writer

– Studios on the Park will host a free presentation featuring local writer Joan Gelfand as part of its “The Arts Around Us” program. The event is scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 26, from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Studios on the Park, located at 1130 Pine Street.
“The Arts Around Us” program highlights diverse art forms within the community, aiming to inspire audiences through creative collaboration. The presentation will feature Gelfand sharing her experiences working with filmmakers, musicians, and artists to amplify her poetry. She will also discuss how to find and collaborate with creative partners. As part of the event, Gelfand will present three short films that gained traction on social media.
Gelfand is the author of three poetry collections, a chapbook of short fiction, and a novel set in a Silicon Valley startup. She has taught for California Poets in the Schools, The Writing Salon, and the San Francisco Writer’s Conference. Her book, “Outside Voices: A Memoir of the Berkeley Revolution,” published by Post Hill Press, won the International Book Awards for U.S. History and the NYC Big Book Award. Her work has appeared in The Huffington Post, The LA Review of Books, The “J,” and The San Francisco Chronicle.
