Los Tucanes de Tijuana to perform at Vina Robles Amphitheatre in May

– Los Tucanes de Tijuana will perform at Vina Robles Amphitheatre on Friday, May 2. Tickets for the event go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 31, through Ticketmaster.
Formed in Tijuana, Mexico, Los Tucanes de Tijuana has been active for nearly four decades, known for their repertoire of corridos and cumbia-norteña music. The group, led by Mario Quintero Lara, has adapted to changing music distribution methods, from selling cassettes and CDs to streaming on online platforms. They have sold over 20 million albums globally, earning 34 gold records and 30 platinum records.
The band’s accolades include a Latin Grammy in 2012, five Grammy nominations, nine Lo Nuestro Awards, and multiple BMI Awards. In 2019, Los Tucanes de Tijuana became the first regional Mexican group to perform at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. In 2016, they represented norteño music in Spain.
Their popular songs include “La chona,” “El tucanazo,” “La chica sexy,” “Vivir de noche,” and “El centenario,” along with new tracks from their album “Comandante en jefe.”
Currently, Mario Quintero Lara and Servín Raya, who plays percussion, are the original members still in the band. They are joined by Alfredo González on accordion, Labrada Valenzuela, and Luis Adrián Cazares Gómez on bass.
