Betty Ann Porte

– Betty Ann Porte (Streiff) passed away from natural causes early Thursday morning, Jan. 16, 2025. She is survived by her daughter, Tracy Mandell, son, Gregory Porte, son-in-law, Eric Mandell, daughter-in-law, Angela Porte, her grandchildren; Zane Mandell, Cassidy Mandell, Ali Barton, and Ashley & Justin Hillman, two great-grandchildren; Brooklynn and Maddison Hillman, sister Lorraine Laughlin, sisters-in-law; Penny Martinez, Kathy Rodriguez and Laura Porte, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Betty was born Nov. 4, 1940, in Wasco, Ca. She was the seventh of eight kids and grew up in Catholic school and FFA. She moved to SLO after graduation to attend Beauty College when she met Greg Porte. They married in 1963 and were married for almost 60 years. Betty’s family and faith were everything, She was a kind and generous person, who would do anything for anyone.
After years as a hair stylist, she became an assistant for Dr DeVincinzo DDS where she spent the next 25 yrs. Betty loved baking, gardening, and Bunco, which she played for over 50 years.
Betty was a devoted wife and mom, but her favorite role was “gramma” and she was the best!
Betty’s passing is a great loss for us all. We will be honoring Betty’s 84 years of life on Friday, Feb. 21, 2025. The vigil will be held at Reis Chapel at 2 pm, a graveside service will follow at San Luis Cemetery and afterward, we will gather at the El’s Lodge, join us.
