City library hosting summer reading programs
Paso Robles City Library’s summer programs run June 16-August 23
The Paso Robles City Library invites the public to have a blast this summer with science-themed good reads and great programs. Thanks to generous sponsors like IQMS, the Paso Robles Friends of the Library, Aera Energy, McDonald’s, and the North County Indians, children ages three to 12 will enjoy the excitement of Fizz, Boom, Read!
Tweens and Teens ages 10 – 18 will be challenged by Spark a Reaction and adults will explore Literary Elements. Readers of all ages can earn prizes as they complete various reading goals, June 16 through August 23.
June’s activities will include a program on dog safety and responsible pet ownership for children, an improv workshop and movie matinee for teens, and for adults, a book discussion on Simon Beckett’s The Chemistry of Death and a program on composting and soil amendment.
July promises more sizzling excitement with a program on the science of sight, a water rocket craft, and a high-energy concert for children, a book discussion on Lawrence Gladstone’s Anatomy of Deception for adults and, for all ages, magic with Gerald Joseph, programs on marine mammals of the Central Coast, and two in a trilogy of Steven Spielberg films.
Children can round out their summers with the launching of their July water rockets, hands-on fun with ooey, gooey science, a program on bicycle maintenance, and a family afternoon matinee. Teens can learn about bicycle maintenance, technology repair, and enjoy an afternoon matinee and some physics fun. August programs for adults will include technology repair, bicycle maintenance, a book discussion on Douglas Starr’s Killer of Little Shepherds, and the last of the Spielberg film series.
