Protestors to rally against Trump, Musk on Presidents’ Day
Demonstrators to gather at key intersections in four cities at noon on Monday
– Protest rallies against President Donald Trump and Elon Musk are scheduled to take place across San Luis Obispo County on Presidents’ Day, Monday, Feb. 17, at noon.
The rallies will be held at four locations: the corner of Los Osos Valley Road and Calle Joaquin in San Luis Obispo, the corner of Grand Avenue and Oak Park Boulevard in Grover Beach, the corner of Spring Street and 12th Street in Paso Robles, and the corner of Los Osos Valley Road and South Bay Boulevard in Los Osos.

Participants are encouraged to bring protest signs. Suggested messages include “Democracy Not Autocracy,” “Immigrants Are Not the Enemy,” “Congress: Do Your Job,” “Trump Is Not Above the Law,” and “Impeach!”
A local office is providing sign-making supplies. The San Luis Obispo County Democratic Party headquarters will be open on Saturdays starting at 8 a.m. for those interested in making signs.

These protesters are in favor of corruption. They are in favor of our BIG Government robbing us of our futures and stealing from the taxpayers. They are in favor of sex trafficking. They are in favor of pedophiles, criminals, cartels, and murderers pouring over our border. They are in favor of the fentanyl pouring into this country killing our family members. Why are you mad at the guys that found the fraud? They are jealous of Elon Musk. How many of these people have sent rockets to Mars? Nothing has been “handed” to Musk. None of these people are outraged that taxpayers have paid 12 BILLION dollars for a rail system that has laid only 1,600 feet of track in 20 YEARS. Now is there fraud in our government. Yes, very likely. But no one has divulged one, just one, absolutely verified example of this. Show me this first. Lots of talk about SS recipients that are 150 years old. etc. but no proof.
Now is there abuse and waste in our government. Yes, absolutely – 1000’s of times more likely than out and out fraud. The so-called hi-speed rail system in the valley is one example. But again, is allowing Musk (a non-elected very rich egotistical homo sapien) to run amok thru government records and private information going to stop any of the abuse or waste. Really!! If you really, really want to stop waste and abuse – then the answer is us. We, as citizens of this country, must demand much, much more of our elected representatives and president. Have you ever considered how much abuse and waste occurs because a representative or senator put pork barrel items in almost ever bill passed by Congress – just to pacify their districts – whether or not the items have any beneficial impact on the country as a whole. We, as a country, need term limits for every elected official and every Supreme Court position. We need our representatives to have the guts to stand up for our country; not bow down, because they are afraid of losing their jobs. When your job or career is more important than what is morally and ethically right – you lose.
And this country loses. Just take the 7 prosecutors that resigned rather than do what the knew was wrong. If you want see heroes – there they are!

I just have some big doubts that the methods being used will really, really, have
a positive impact. For example, where is it shown the very likely benefits Musk and his companies will get from these actions? Eliminating regulations and those whose ‘job’ it was to monitor government contracts will undoubtedly result in Musk getting richer. Do you agree?
My point is, and always will be, that the people we elect to Congress and president have not done the job they were elected to do. This has nothing to do with Musk, or Trump, or Democrats, or Republicans. This has been going on for decades and is just getting worse. This absolute disregard for doing their job is MONEY. Money, money, money drives almost everybody and almost everything.
- Every elected official starts running for re-election the day after being elected. Why? Money.
- Lobbyists have too big a say in what gets considered or passed. Money.
- Big, rich donors give huge amounts of money to candidates. They obviously expect some return. Money, favors.
If we, as a country, ever expect to really have a government that is of the people, for the people, and by the people; we must get rid of the stupendous amount of money that is involved. We also need to change the process of how we do elections. Get rid of the Electoral College, get rid of gerrymandering, shorten our election cycle to maybe 2 months (not continual, as it is now). No other country on this earth has anywhere close to the idiotic system we use – in this day and age of instantaneous communications – no one can justify the system we still use.
Why? Money.
I will close with one last point. Our federal government is too big, it is bloated, full of unnecessary rules and regulations, and quite frankly is ran by those who have money. But just look at any government, at any level – state, county, or city and you will see the same thing – just on a different scale. Have you ever thought about the city of Paso Robles? The waste, abuse, and probably fraud that exists here is only different than Washington DC on scale. Hundreds or maybe thousands of dollars; rather than millions or billions.
That, in my opinion, is the biggest fault of democracy. Greed, money, get what I want, pat someone’s back in order to get your back patted have replaced decency, rule of law and ethics.
Almost every dynasty, empire, or federation over history eventually failed from within. We will likely be next, if we don’t change. But Musk or Trump, or anyone else who is driven by greed, money or retribution is not the answer. We, the people are.
