– DW Farms, a family-owned nursery specializing in native and drought-tolerant plants, has opened its greenhouses and growing areas for retail sales in San Miguel. The nursery is located 15 minutes northeast of downtown Paso Robles and offers plants suited for the region’s climate.
Dessie Underwood and Wendy Willis founded DW Farms on May 1. The nursery grows plants from seed and sources small plants from Takao Nursery in Fresno, as well as wholesale suppliers Clearwater Color in Los Osos and Native Sons in Arroyo Grande. It offers custom plant orders and contract growing services for landscapers and homeowners.
DW Farms currently produces 80 types of plants, including lawn alternatives, ground covers, perennials, shrubs, and native grasses. The nursery provides free consultations on landscaping projects and sells soil formulations to support plant growth. Gift cards are available for purchase.
The nursery hosts free soil workshops on the second Saturday of each month from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. The next workshops are scheduled for April 12 and June 14.
DW Farms is open by appointment Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and welcomes walk-ins on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Free delivery is available on orders of $100 or more within 15 miles. More information is available at dwfarms.org.
