Gordon Hilchey Obituary
Feb. 10, 1954 – March 12, 2025
Paso Robles, California
– Gordon Hilchey passed away suddenly on March 12, 2025, at 71 years old. Always known for being a loving father and grandfather, and a wonderful husband to his wife, Gayle, of 40 years. Gordon never failed to send his love and support to friends and family. Gordon enjoyed being with his family, especially watching his grandchildren grow. Gordon was an excellent woodworker, and he was always looking for useful items that he could craft for his loved ones. Including his signature cribbage boards, which he crafted for those he enjoyed a game of cribbage with.
Gordon loved traveling either by recreational vehicle or cruise. He and his wife Gayle enjoyed many camping trips in their RV, including traveling across the country. Gordon was a member of Elks Lodge #2733 and took part in many camping trips and poker games with that group. Gordon and Gayle also took 28 cruises together, including cruises to Alaska, Mexico, Hawaii, Mississippi River, Caribbean and Europe. While traveling, he always brought his hand-crafted cribbage boards and could be seen enjoying a hotly debated game.
Gordon Franklin Hilchey was born February 10th, 1954, to Anne and Gordon Hilchey Sr. in Boston, Massachusetts. The family moved from Boston to Anaheim, California when he was six years old. In 1979, Gordon moved to Atascadero, California and began working at C. Dunn. While working at C. Dunn he met the love of his life Gayle, when she moved to Paso Robles, California to build a home. After his father and uncle Cliff Dunn retired, Gordon owned and operated C. Dunn until 2008.
Gordon is survived by his wife Gayle Hilchey; his two children Amy Cooper and Evan Davidson; and four grandchildren, Tessa, Michaela, Owen, and Neil. He is also survived by his sister Karen Hilchey; niece Tammy Pojawis and nephew Jared Hilchey. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents Anne and Gordon Hilchey Sr; and his brother Marty Hilchey.
