Paso Robles police seize fentanyl and firearm in drug bust
Police dogs detect narcotics, leading to arrests and seizure of fentanyl
– Officers from the Paso Robles Police Department‘s Special Enforcement Team served a search warrant on a storage unit near San Miguel on March 13 after two narcotic detection dogs indicated the presence of narcotics. Paso Robles Police K9 Griff and Atascadero Police Department K9 Maverick both alerted officers to the unit.
During the search, officers found 2.5 ounces of fentanyl and a .22 Ruger handgun with the serial numbers removed. The unit was rented by Chris Boerner of Paso Robles.
A secondary warrant was served on Boerner’s residence and vehicle. Officers located Boerner driving in Paso Robles, conducted a traffic stop, and arrested him. A search of his vehicle uncovered a hidden safe inside the seat headrest containing fentanyl, cash, and evidence of drug sales. Officers then searched Boerner’s residence, finding additional fentanyl, cocaine, cash, drug paraphernalia, and further evidence of narcotics sales.
In total, authorities seized 0.67 pounds (311 grams) of suspected fentanyl and cocaine, $14,715 in cash, and scales and drug paraphernalia.
Boerner, 44, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance for sale, possession of a firearm by a restricted person, using a false compartment to conceal narcotics, and conspiracy to distribute narcotics, all felonies.
Carrie Cassidy, 41, of Paso Robles, was also arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance for sale and child endangerment, both felonies.
Both suspects were transported to San Luis Obispo County Jail.
