Annual Earth Day celebration returning to Charles Paddock Zoo

Charles Paddock Zoo hosts 14th annual Earth Day celebration

Enjoy interactive exhibits, food, and environmental activities at the zoo

    – The Charles Paddock Zoo will host its 14th Annual “Party for the Planet” Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 19, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The family-friendly event will focus on natural resource conservation and the protection of global and local animals and plants.

The celebration will offer interactive activities, hands-on exhibits, and demonstrations about water conservation, pollinators, and other environmental topics. Sustainability-conscious businesses will also showcase their efforts. Food will be available for purchase from Heavenly Hot Dogs and Paradise Shaved Ice.

Sponsors of the event include Platinum sponsors Atascadero Mutual Water Company and Madrone Landscapes, as well as Gold sponsors 4th Generation Tree Service, Solarponics, and Waste Management.

The Charles Paddock Zoo is dedicated to conservation efforts, specializing in animals native to biodiversity hotspots, which cover just 2.5% of Earth’s land surface but support nearly half of all species found nowhere else on the planet. The zoo is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and works toward the conservation of endangered species.

The zoo is home to over 300 animals, including red pandas, monkeys, fossa, meerkats, parrots, a Malayan tiger, and a variety of reptiles. General admission to the zoo includes access to “Party for the Planet” activities. Admission is $13 for adults, $11 for seniors, $8 for children ages 5 to 12, $5 for children ages 3 to 4, and free for children 2 and under.

The zoo is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is located at Atascadero Lake Park on Highway 41/Morro Road, one mile west of Highway 101.
