California Highway Patrol hosting ‘Coffee with a Cop’ in Atascadero
Officers invite community to informal event on April 21
– Officers from the California Highway Patrol Templeton Area office will meet with community members on April 21 at Malibu Brew in Atascadero for Coffee with a Cop. The event will begin at 8 a.m. at 5955 E. Mall.
All community members are invited to attend. The event will offer an informal setting for residents to ask questions, discuss concerns, and connect with officers from the local highway patrol office.
“We hope community members will welcome the opportunity to ask questions, bring concerns forward, or simply get to know our officers,” said Lieutenant Darren Gennuso. “These interactions are the foundation of community partnerships.”
Coffee with a Cop is a national initiative supported by the United States Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing Services. The program aims to improve relationships between officers and community members by creating relaxed, one-on-one opportunities for dialogue.
Organizers say most contact between law enforcement and the public occurs during emergencies or high-stress situations, which may not be ideal for building relationships. Events like Coffee with a Cop are designed to break down those barriers and encourage open conversation.
The community can contact Officer Ryan Armstrong with questions: (805) 400-6720, Ryan.D.Armstrong@chp.ca.gov.
