– Social Distortion will perform at Vina Robles Amphitheatre on Friday, June 13. Tickets will be available through Ticketmaster beginning Friday, April 18, at 10 a.m.
The long-running punk rock band, now in its fifth decade, continues to tour with frontman Mike Ness. Social Distortion’s most recent release, Hard Times and Nursery Rhymes, was produced by Ness and marked several milestones for the band. Upon release in 2011, the album debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard Top 200. It was also the top Independent Album and the No. 2 Modern Rock/Alternative Album that week.
Following the release, the band made its late-night television debut performing “Machine Gun Blues” on Jimmy Kimmel Live, and later played on Conan on the album’s release date. That same year, Social Distortion appeared at major music festivals, including Reading and Leeds in Europe, and made its first tours of Australia and South America. The band also performed for the first time at Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits Festival, and Coachella.
Social Distortion is known for its blend of punk, rockabilly, and blues-inspired rock and roll. Ness’ lyrics often focus on themes of love, loss, and resilience. “The most common thing I hear is, ‘Man, your music got me through some hard times,’” Ness said. “And I just say, ‘Me too.’”
“I write songs for myself, and I hope that other people will like them too,” Ness said. “I think every record you make is showing people what you’ve learned over the past few years. It’s showing people, ‘This is what I know.’”
A new release is planned for 2025.
